The agreement between you and Chess Vision. Plain language, because you should actually read it.
Chess Vision is a desktop application for macOS and Windows, sold as a monthly subscription through this website. It reads a chess board from your screen and draws move suggestions over it. It does not play moves for you, does not connect to any chess service on your behalf, and does not modify any other program.
These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Chess Vision (“we”, “us”). By creating an account, subscribing, or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
You need an account to use the app. Keep your password to yourself; everything done with your account is treated as done by you. One account is for one person. You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher.
Your username is shown publicly on the community board next to anything you post there. Choose one you are comfortable with.
The subscription price is shown on the pricing section of this site and at checkout. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. The subscription renews every month until you cancel. Cancel any time from the Manage subscription link on your dashboard; access continues to the end of the period you have paid for and no further charge is made.
Payments are for access during the billing period and are not refunded once the period has started, except where the law where you live requires otherwise. If a charge fails, access ends when the paid period does.
You get a personal, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on computers you control for as long as your subscription is active. You may not resell, share, rent, or sublicense the app or your account, reverse engineer it, remove the licence checks, or use it to build a competing product.
You are responsible for how you use the suggestions. Many chess platforms forbid outside assistance in rated games and enforce that with account penalties. Read and follow the rules of any site you play on. Using Chess Vision in violation of a third party's rules is your decision and your risk; we accept no responsibility for consequences on other platforms, including lost accounts or ratings.
The community section is public. Anything you post there can be read by anyone, including people without an account. Do not post personal information, other people's private messages, or anything you do not have the right to share.
Keep it about chess and the app. We remove posts that are abusive, spam, illegal, or off topic, and we may lock threads or suspend accounts that keep breaking these rules. Posts by the team are marked with a Team badge.
We work on the app continuously and release updates often. Features can change, be added, or be removed. The app depends on the layout of third-party websites, which we do not control; when those change, recognition can stop working until we update the app. We aim to fix such breaks quickly but do not promise uninterrupted service.
We may suspend or end the service for maintenance, for legal reasons, or if we stop offering it. If we end it while you have paid for a period you have not used, we refund that unused part.
You can cancel the subscription at any time from your dashboard, and you can stop using the service at any time. We can close an account that breaks these terms, after a warning where that is reasonable, or immediately for serious abuse. When an account is closed, the licence ends and any unused prepaid period is refunded unless the closure was for a breach.
The app is provided as it is. We do not promise that it works with every screen, browser, or site layout, that its suggestions are correct, or that using it leads to any result. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for anything arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury, or fraud.
We may update these terms. The date at the top tells you when. For material changes we tell you in the app or on the dashboard at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, cancel before they take effect.
These terms are governed by the law of the country where the operator is established, without affecting the consumer protections you have where you live. Disputes go to the competent courts of that country, or of your home country where consumer law gives you that right. If a part of these terms is found invalid, the rest stays in force.
