What we keep about you, why, where it lives, and how to get rid of it.
We keep as little about you as we can. Your account holds your email, a password hash, a username, and your subscription status. The app sends us a summary of each game you play with it, so your dashboard can show your statistics. Payment details go to Stripe, not to us. The community board is public. We do not sell data and we do not run advertising.
The operator of Chess Vision is the controller of the data described here. Requests about your data can be raised on the community board, where they are handled by the team, or by any contact route shown on this site.
The app does not send us screenshots or the contents of your screen. Board reading happens entirely on your computer. We do not track you across other websites, we do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not ask for your name, address, or date of birth.
Accounts, game summaries, and community content are stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers in the European Union. The website is served by Netlify. Payments are processed by Stripe. Each of these providers processes data under an agreement with us and its own privacy policy; we do not give them more than the service needs.
Under the GDPR and similar laws you can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, receive a copy in a portable form, restrict or object to some processing, and complain to your data protection authority. Deleting your account deletes your account data and game summaries; community posts are kept unless you ask for them to be deleted too, because other people's replies depend on them.
To exercise a right, raise it on the community board or through any contact route on this site. We answer within one month.
The website uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember small preferences. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Stripe's checkout and portal pages set their own cookies under Stripe's policy.
The service is not for children under 16. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 16 without the consent required where they live, we delete it.
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. For material changes we tell you in the app or on the dashboard before they take effect.
